Our number one priority is the safety of all students in our school community.  All children should be thoroughly familiar with the route to be used between home and school. Children should be made aware of road hazards and safety rules.

Children who ride a bicycle to school must wear a helmet. Bicycles, scooters and skateboards are NOT to be ridden inside the school grounds under any circumstances. They are to be pushed (or skateboards held) until students reach the school gates at all times when leaving the school grounds.

The Brisbane City Council provides a limited bus service for students attending our school. For further details, please contact TRANSLINK on 131230 or go to their website. Students waiting for buses after school move to Wilbur Street Bus Stop where the are supervised.

Please note that there are 40kph speed limits in force before and after school hours during school days.

crossing-supervisor.jpgCrossing Supervisors

The Queensland Government has officially appointed our crossing supervisors. They supervise crossings each school day as follows:

  • 7.50-8.50am
  • 2.50-3.20pm
The periods when supervisors are on duty should ensure maximum safety for students attending our school. Parents are asked to always use the crossing when delivery or collecting their child from school.

Keep our kids, parents and supervisors safe by:
  • obeying the supervisor's directions
  • wait on the footpath
  • parking legally so  ongoing traffic can be seen
  • setting a good example
  • drive at no more than 40km per hour

parking.pngParking

Parking for our school is often problematic due to the number of people who wish to access the school at very specific times - drop off and pick up.

To ensure we cater for the pressure of parking, the school has:
  • A 2 Minute Zone for dropping off/picking up students is in place in Abbotsleigh Street.
  • Parking is available on Wilbur Street, Abbostleigh Street, Percival Terrace, Victor Street and Geelong Avenue.
The Following conditions apply to the parking of vehicles in school grounds:
  • Parking in the school grounds is not permitted except with the permission of the Principal.
  • Any driver of a vehicle entering the school grounds must not present a hazard to students in the school.
  • Education Queensland accepts no liability whatsoever to damage to motor vehicles parked within the grounds.

2 Minute Zone

Our school has a 2 minute zone for dropping off/picking up students in Abbotsleigh Street.

The zone allows you to stop for up to two minutes to pick up or drop off your child. Tips for drivers picking up or setting down children:
  • Parents/carers are to remain in their vehicles at all times when using the zone.
  • If your child/ren are not there waiting for you, you must proceed around the block and then return to the line.
  • Ensure your child watches for their ride and movies promptly to the vehicle.
  • Always drop off and pick up in the designated zone.
  • Observe the time restriction on the 2 minute zone - do not overstay.
  • Do not double park.
  • Do not park on the yellow lines painted around the kerbs.
  • Do not park across driveways.
  • Do not do a U-turn close to the school.
  • Do not park in the school bus stops.
  • Be courteous to other drivers and school crossing supervisors.
To avoid the congestion at 3.00pm, some parents/carers may find it better to wait to collet students around 3.10pm when the traffic has cleared.
